The people in this spot had a GREAT attitude. It is small so we did have a wait but we sat on a comfy couch and were served drinks while we waited. The food was phenomenal. Most steak houses are al-la-carte and this one came with dinner rolls with the most delicious honey butter, a bomb salad and a baked potato. Check it out, this place is awesome.

My wife got violently ill after eating there last night. The food was tasty but when we got home she got sick like never before.(In our over 30 years of marriage she has never gotten sick from food - she only had one thing different than I did so we think that's the problem) When I called the Resturant I spoke to someone that said he was the head chef but didn't seem to be taken seriously until I mentioned the possibility of calling the health department. When we left the restaurant I had definitely planned to return & give it a very high rating, but now I'm sure I could never get my wife to go back. Being in a service industry myself, I was surprised that no attempt was made to re-earn our business.

Been here a few times now and they know how to cook a steak! Their name explains their method of cooking. They broil your steak at 1200 degrees. What this does is char the outside while keeping the inside just right. It's fabulous. If I had one wish, it would be a selection of aged steaks but there really isn't any room for storage. This place is tiny. So on to the meal. We ordered 2 appetizers. The mussels and the shrimp. The shrimp was bitter and its the first thing I've had here that I haven't loved. My wife loves the mussels. It's a huge portion so anticipate sharing or wasting. The wife got the filet with the mushroom marsala sauce on the side and unfortunately the mussels did her in before she ever got to the steak. She maybe had 3 bites. That's a testament to the mussels not the steak. I ordered the Tomahawk steak. 2 1/2 pound bone in ribeye ordered medium rare with the gorgonzola sauce on the side... It was perfect! I had never had the sauce before and so just a little touch on each bite added that kind of sharpness you might find on an aged steak. I ate the whole steak and feel like I could have had another but at 60 bucks, one will do. :-) As far as the other aspects... The service is fantastic. The facility itself is tiny. It is a converted house. You feel like you're in someone's living room. So here is the key advice. They open at 5. Get there at 4:55. They don't take reservations so unless you like a wait, get their early or you will wait. Otherwise the place is perfect.

--- Short Synopsis --- A small, local restaurant with some great flavors and good crust on the steaks. For the truffle fries, a little too much salt for my taste and too overcooked (almost burnt). Everything else I have had was delicious and good. They ha

To get 5 stars from me, a restaurant needs to be at or near perfection in taste, price, service & ambiance. After reading the many YELP reviews I put this on the dining list. I followed the recommendation to arrive BY 5 to avoid long waits. On a Monday nite, this was not necessary. There were only 3 tables dining the first hour with 2 additional tables at 6 pm when the first were leaving. The parking lot is a little confusing beyond the first 4 cars. The inside of the restaurant is clean and "fun" with cow hide tiles along one wall. I had a delicious $25 (7 oz) filet, served with garlic smashed potatoes and a parmesan crusted tomato piece. Prices aren't posted on the online menu nor stated in any other review. This was the cheapest cut on the menu. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, tho' I ordered medium rare and got rare/cold center. I did not want to risk sending it back and getting it too done on the other extreme. I enjoyed the gorgonzola sauce ($4 extra option). The tomato could come off the menu-it was barely cooked, 2 bites and not flavorful. The potatoes were good and moist (unlike several photos here) but too garlicky for me. The first course salad with apples & cranberries was good but not a "stand-out". Hate that they leave such large chunks of lettuce. The honey balsamic was good but not "outstanding". Loved the light flaky rolls with honey butter--that was a decadent start to the meal. I ordered at 5:05 and was served the entrée by 5:35 pm. With a nice malbec, tax and tip, my meal for one was $45. This place has to work through some service issues. I was seated at the worst spot in the place--in full view of the dumpster when there were many finer places to be seated in the empty restaurant. There were a dozen employees upon opening for 3 tables. (Good news? I had a dedicated waiter who served me well.) But this made for a very LOUD employee party at the bar in a place where music or classy silence might be better than the "sports bar" shouting and laughing "show". At least 3 employees were on their phones at any given time--including one of the cooks with one hand on the food prep. A hostess in flip flops, a bartender whomping her gum, a cook coming out to "cuddle" with a female long-haired employee and then go back to food were yucky. I don't mind spending this kind of money. But I want the total package of "class act", which should occur any night of the week consistently with every guest served.

Service and sides top notch!!! Steaks .... just OK. Nicely decorated and comfortable but small restaurant. Goat cheese appetizer delicious, bread decent, honey butter excellent... Salad very tasty. Potatoes excellent- Baked, fried, au gratin.. Desserts and wine list excellent. Coffee from Keurig but good. Steaks-- too much gristle and fat. Cooked to order, sauces flavorful- but quality far less than what a prime quality steakhouse would offer. Get salads sides and deserts and skip steaks!! Hmmm....

The best dining experience I've had in a long time... Maybe it was the company, maybe it was the food, maybe it was the smile on my boyfriend's face when the "Tomahawk" was placed in front of him! Ha! Great place, great food and we had the best time. We will be back again Chop House and St. Pete!

Pretty damn amazing. We came here on a Saturday around 6pm and didn't have to wait too long. We both ordered filets - mine medium rare, hers medium. The steak came out and hers was more medium rare and mine was more rare. However, they tasted incredible. They were seasoned perfectly and the steaks were extremely high quality. Absolutely no fat or gristle whatsoever. It tasted so good (even though mine was undercooked) and I scarfed it up. The baked potato side was perfect; soft and fluffy and a perfect compliment. Service was outstanding. This was the difference between a five star review and a four star review (since my steak was undercooked). He was so attentive, friendly and very accommodating. He recommended great wine and beer and was at the call at all times. I won't hesitate to return.

A disappointing evening at a restaurant that had high hopes. In vacation land, time is precious and if your appetite longs for a steak, you will be tempted to call on this establishment. Fight the temptation and go elsewhere. Our steaks were sent back twice after being overcooked. Our waiter comped our meal but the time was lost and a price was paid. The quality of the meat was nothing special, but it's priced as if it was. Miss Steak!

I've eaten at A LOT of places. Hands down the BEST steak I've ever had!! My meal got better with every bite! Sure it's not a large place, but like they say Great things come from small restaurants!!

Great salad!!! Steak was over seasoned Jason was the server he was nice and accommodated to our guests. The wait was way tooooo long, hostess was awful, and we had to ask for silverware a handful of times. This place was way to hyped up and maybe it was because we had a bigger group and also we had a couple of different accommodations the were needed. The other dishes were on point! Mostly the service that made this experience sour. That hostess was really off putting. She may not be cut out for the service industry. Their duck dish, i should of gone with this selection. I am a fan!!! Also the Gorgonzola salad, I am sure I can eat it for the rest of my life!

For all of the restaurants on St. Pete Beach, this is one of the better ones. Be warned, this restaurant is small and seating can be tough to come by. The Ribeye steak with the Gorgonzola sauce is a MUST have. Steak was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. The house salads are really good as well. Apples, Walnuts and the house made honey vinaigrette is really good. Be aware, this is a small steak "shack". The beer and wine selections are limited, and there is no full service bar. But, with the lack of other dining options on St. Pete Beach, this is a very smart choice.

The best part about 1200 Chophouse is the food. Both our meats were cooked perfectly and the prices are very reasonable compared to other steakhouses. They don't take reservations so it certainly a risk going during prime dining times. The restuaurant is small and the service was excellent.

My wife and I are celebrating our anniversary in St Pete, and decided to have dinner in a local place. After looking at Yelp and Urbanspoon, we decided to go here based on the great reviews....mind you we had no reservations. When we got there we noticed the place was small but cozy, and the parking is limited, but since they open at 5pm that shouldn't conflict with other shops. We went inside and asked the host Mallory if we could sit outside to avoid the 45 minute wait. She is simply OUTSTANDING, and made us feel very special by the attention she offered us. It was a bit cold outside and she went and got a coat for my wife, which she really appreciated. The manager Sam Andrews came to take our order, and made some recommendations based on what we told him we liked. He was simply spot on, from the wine to the appetizers and entrees, everything was delicious. Sam is simply a rockstar! This place rocks, from great people, nice atmosphere, and great food, we found our new favorite place in St Petersburg.

Went for my anniversary. Service was inconsistent but the rest of the experience outweighed the lapses in good service. The tbone special was cooked and seasoned to perfection. My wife had the filet and it was done to her picky specifications. The truffled fries were also a delicious appetizer. Hands down the best salad of our trip as well. Superb experience.

First time here and it did not disappoint. Our server was very friendly and attentive to our table of 4. The Chophouse Salad, which came with our entrees, was so fresh and delicious. Great combination of flavors (greens, craisins, Gorgonzola, green apple, walnuts, balsamic dressing). I chose the Steak Au Poivre, which was a strip loin cooked to a perfect medium, draped with a most delicious peppercorn sauce; definitely a repeat!! Others in my group had the Angus Ribeye. All were quite satisfied with their selections. One opted for a side of Gorgonzola cream sauce, which was very rich & tasty.

Smaller then I thought, be prepared to wait a good 45 mins if it's raining! Had a great meal but the steak wasn't cooked close to the way it should. Asked for medium got rare, they did offer to take it back, twice but the long wait had me hungry. Bread was nice and fluffy with a sweet butter, salad was delicious! My husband said his rib eye was the best he'd ever had!

We stopped in here after it was recommended to us at Snapper's the night before, and we were pleasantly surprised to get quick seating and service even though it was Mother's day. The staff was clearly winding down for the night and in the mood to be playful but not overbearing. The steaks were great, cooked as we requested, and the salad was outstanding. The portions were more than generous. This restaurant group just keeps hitting it out of the park. Upscale food in a casual setting...after all this is a beach town. Our evening wrapped up with an extra pour of an even better Cabernet than we ordered! When we head back to St. Pete for the weekend, we will eat here again!

Get the Ribeye with Gorgonzola sauce! For the price and the amount of food you can't ask for more. The lobster risotto was delicious as well and definitely worth the upcharge to get it as a side. We shared a bottle of Pine Ridge which was a Sav blend and it was so refreshing and the perfect match. I'll be back every time to visit.

What a tiny gem of a restaurant 30-35 places so call ahead or be willing to wait. But damn it will be worth the wait found it while on Vacation through what else "Yelp" Salad was outstanding Steak was one of the best Ribeye's I have had in a long time portions are huge so order accordingly. Only complaint is the tiny oddly shaped parking lot yes I had to complain about the parking lot lol. Great service too will be back

In my opinion this was the best meal I had while in St Pete for a long weekend. (My husband liked their sister restaurant Snappers Sea Grill down the road better). From the salad to the bread to the filet it was all delicious and I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Best steakhouse around! We usually go to Charley's but this is definitely better! Our steaks were cooked perfectly, the service was outstanding and the ambience is relaxing and comfortable (not stuffy, you can wear jeans or dress up...). Can't wait to return! The portions were large and the price was excellent! The only drawback was we were too full for dessert (because the appetizers and bread were amazing)!

My wife and I have gone on a couple of occasions. I believe that it is the best chop house in this area. The service, atmosphere and the food all combined for a great experience. Our server, Chris, I do believe was his name, was great. I will always look for him. Highly recommended. The menu is outstanding. Again highly recommended.

This is a pretty decent steak house, especially considering it's in a touristy beach town. It's one of three restaurants by the same owner on St Pete Beach, the other two being Mad Fish and Snappers. Like the other two, this one also does not have liquor, just beer and wine. The restaurant does not take reservations and it is quite small, as is its parking lot, so chances are if you have trouble finding a parking spot, you're also going to have trouble getting a table; that's my method of determining if my wife and I will go there or not. It's very cozy inside, perhaps 12 tables total, most being two or four tops. This is not really a good place to bring kids, especially if they're still stroller-age, because it's nearly impossible to maneuver a stroller inside. The only exception to that is if you're in a party of four to six. In that case, there's a table in the front corner of the building that seats six and has room for a stroller on the end of it. There is also no kids menu. Food-wise, everything is quite good. I've had the ribeye, filet, chicken saltlmbocca and chicken marsala and all were excellent. Their wedge salad is crunchy and fresh as well. They know how to cook the steaks the way you order them, even Pittsburgh-style. They DO have Bearnaise sauce, which is surprisingly hard to find at steak houses, and theirs is great. The staff are generally very attentive, however, they often forget to tell you about the specials, and the specials often include items that are not on the normal menu, so make sure you ask about them if it's not mentioned as you might be missing out on something unique and great. I had a fantastic salmon entree a few weeks ago that was not on the regular menu and would not have known had I not asked. They have outdoor seating, but I'd probably forgo that if you're in the months of June through September because it's pretty darn warm outside.

The place is small but the food is great. They have a good wine selection. We had an Argentine Malbec. We started with the fried goat cheese. It was good but a little cold in the center compared to the rest of it. The arugula salad and balsamic dressing and pickled onions were a perfect complete to the goat cheese. The diner salad and fresh bread were also excellent. Now to the steak. Perfect!! I ordered a medium ribeye and it was perfectly done. It suggested they gorgonzola sauce but not sure why. It would have been a tragedy to put anything on that steak, it stood alone. I used the Gorgonzola on my garlic mashed potatoes which was awesome. Service was great. If vacationing in St. Pete Beach it is a must.

This establishment is in a small renovated house, making it a nice change from the larger places. The parking was a hassle, had to park in a dirt space which was muddy. The wait was minimal and they have a nice bar to wait at. A good wine selection was available as well. Now the best part, the food is fantastic, I had a ribeye that was done perfectly. My spouse had the filet also done perfectly. The goat cheese appetizer was prepared well and a great addition to the meal. Get a side order of the mushrooms and Marsala, you won't be disappointed. The ambiance inside is casual and shorts are no problem, or you will be at home in slacks and a nice shirt. The noise level inside the small space is a little on the high side so an intimate meal is difficult, however this is fine given the atmosphere. Overall a great experience.

This is a small steak house across from the beach. Depending on the time you go you may have to wait for a table to become available. But it is worth the wait. Service from the minute you walk in is great. The most impressive staff member was the young man who served the water and bussed the tables. He was right there whenever you needed a refill or something removed inside or out. Our waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable. The steak and baked potatoes are amazing.

Super disappointed with my steak. It was cooked wrong...twice! And I'm not a snob when it comes to steak either, but seriously, my hubby grills a better costco steak! Rolls and salad were good, but that's about it!

  • Ali T.

I have no idea why anyone thinks this is good food. I am so confused. How does this restaurant have 4 stars? We ate dinner at the bar, and had good service. The food I would give 0 stars if I could. It was very underwhelming. The steak was tough and over cooked. I've had better steaks at Outback, for half the price. The salad was way overdressed. The best part of the meal was dinner rolls. I definitely will not be going back and I couldn't sleep at night without putting my one star in.

  • Ariel F.

INCREDIBLE is an understatement. Great service, friendly staff and awesome bar tenders! If just 2 people, highly recommend hanging out by the bar and grabbing seats there as the wait can be longer around dinner time. Highly recommend the ribeye...melts in your mouth! Can't wait to come back again next time we are in the area!

My husband had the sea bass he said it was the best he has ever ate! I had the surf and turf it was amazing also! Their house salad was so yummy also. Everything was really good!

We had to wait a bit but it was well worth it. We enjoyed filet, ribeye. Great salad and sides. Had wine by the glass, a Zinfandel and a Malbec. It was all so very good but steaks ruled. Too full for desert. Jason was our waiter and was very friendly but a bit overwhelmed. Made no difference as he was nice and cheerful. The hostess is the hardest working and seems to keep this place moving well whatever she is paid is likely low.

Wife and I are locals and love this place -- but almost hate to promote it as the restaurant is quite small and the waits can be long. But wow, the food is worth it. The staff is awesome. The prices are reasonable for the quality they are selling. Everything about the execution after being seated leaves people satisfied. So in short 5-star on everything except the wait due to restaurant size. Couple recommendations - The Gouda fries are a great side and always on special. The mussels app is huge and very good if you want to start with seafood. All the steaks are great, wife loves filet but I like the rib-eye and NY strip with Bearnaise.

My new favorite find on St. Pete beach! I was looking for a place to take some visitors that isn't a chain and was new to me. I found it on Yelp and I wasn't let down. We really loved our waiter CHRIS. While we waited for our table we enjoyed some wine. They only serve beer and wine. I would recommend NOT getting any apps because the dinners include a salad and it is plenty of food! I was so full by the time dinner came. Their bread rolls are delicious and come with sweet butter. We also shared the truffle fries with gouda fondue. Pretty bomb but heavy. For dinner my guests had the mussels and Twin filet. I don't eat mussels but they said they were up there in the top three for them. I had the filet with potatoes au gratin and it was perfectly cooked deliciousness. The salad that comes with the meals is also really delicious. Definitely try the GORGONZOLA sauce on a steak. That is freakin delicious!!!! Also the risotto as a side is a winner. Again, it is a lot of food but so yummy. Can't wait to take the rest of my family when they come visit.

Had dinner here the other night and was pretty impressed. I had the filet Oscar. I like that a salad came with my food, the house salad is pretty good. The cut of meat was incredible, cooked to a perfect med rare. The only negative for me, really, was the Oscar "topping". It was more of a crabmeat stuffing, with a decent amount of filler, including shrimp Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious, but it kind of felt like a cheat. I would definitely recommend this place, I just know when I go back I'd get just the plain filet. My dad got the surf and turf and the lobster was fantastic! Overall a good experience!

All around, this place is top notch. Fantastic wine list coupled with perfect steaks, you can't go wrong. We ate at the bar and really enjoyed the conversation with very knowledgeable bartenders.

I ordered the ribeye with the Gorgonzola sauce. Server accidentally brought out another table's steak and my steak was overdone. He realized the mistake and immediately took the steak back. My second steak was more on the medium side rather than my requested medium-rare. Not the best ribeye I have had but good enough. I did not care too much about the Gorgonzola sauce - it was too rich for me and the steak really didn't need the sauce for me. My boyfriend's filet mignon was in my opinion better. Out of the three restaurants that are part of this restaurant group, I like Mad Fish restaurant the best for the grouper sandwich, second is Snappers Restaurant for seafood, and third is 1200 chophouse. For my next visit to St. Pete, I will stick with the good local seafood choices.

I just really didn't like this place! The staff was so ditzy that we wondered if they were on something. We got a 7 ounce steak when we ordered the 10, my rib eye was fatty. I don't know, the reviews were so good but I just wouldn't go back.

Best Steakhouse on the beach and one of only 2 worth eating in all of Pinellas. Great food & great staff. The ribeye is perfect. If you like charred, ask for Pittsburgh. They know how to do it right. Truffle fries, bacon scallops and the chophouse potatoes must go with your meal. We're weekly regulars. Highly recommend.

We decided to try the chophouse because of the reviews and my husband wanted a good steak. The building is small, the dining room only has about 10 tables and seating at the bar. They do not take reservations or call aheads. So if it's the weekend be prepared to wait. In warmer weather they do have out door seating too. Hands down 5 stars on the food. However the hostess was not very friendly, service was just so so and the ladies room was completely trashed. So 4 stars is the best it could get for this visit. Excellent ribeye steak, tremendous flavor without being overly fatty. Good sear on the outside, but still juicy. No need to even touch the sauce. The sea bass was very good, thick cut by still tender and moist. The ingredients were fresh, flavors well paired and quality meal for the price. The house salad and warm bread rolls were wonderful too. We left satisfied and were very pleased with the food and experience. I highly recommend dining here when you're in town.

The food is really phenomenal here! I went there for my birthday and was not disappointed by the food. The ambiance leaves something to be desired but it's interesting. It was horribly hot the night I went. I overheard the air conditioning was broken - but that was between customers so I'm not sure if it is true. If ac was broken, I would have thought they would have apologized about the heat, and no one did.

Food is fantastic. However last time I went placed a takeout order...hostess set the phone down to put me on hold...and never returned. We finally got through 30 minutes later. When I walked in to pick up the order, hostess said "oh my god!" ran back to the kitchen with no explanation (clear she never put the order in). She told me it would only be 5 or 10 minutes, but I was doubtful. Asked to talk to a manager, was told he was cooking. He came out about the time my food did, not looking like he had been cooking in a kitchen. He comped the appetizer, don't really think that was fair. I finally walked out with my food 25 minutes after I had walked in to pick it up, one hour after I had ordered, and 90 minutes after I had first called. Also salad was missing blue cheese and they'd left out one of the sauces I had ordered, (that they charge for) Don't know if I'll be back based on bad service from host, whoever put the order together and the manager

The reviews were high for this steakhouse. We were visiting the area for my husband's birthday and wanted something nice. We drove by and saw people on the deck smoking cigarettes in shorts and flip flops. We drove away, worried that we would not find another place on beach that late we went back. Everyone in the place including staff were dressed shabbily. There was a party of 20 that were loud and even cursing and we were sat almost on top of them. We could not even hear each other over the noise and nobody cared. Our waiter was older and didn't seem to care one bit about our comfort or even to recommend what we should try. We decided to skip the appetizers and split a steak and a lobster tail and caprese salad wowee the food was outstanding the ribeye steak was huge and perfectly seasoned the lobster was so tender. The wine was delicious and lots of high end choices (love block Sauvignon blanc) please try it's now my new favorite! We would return again gladly the food can make you forget your name it's so good it's easy to forget any other issues. John & Sunny

My wife and I wanted some place for a good steak dinner and I found this one on Yelp. The restaurant is small and a bit noisy, but the service and food were top notch. We started with bacon wrapped scallops which were perfectly prepared; the bacon was crispy and the scallop had a light browning, but the inside was soft and moist. I ordered the ribeye cooked medium rare. Admittedly, it came out medium well, but when I brought it to the waiter's attention, he took it back and they gave me a properly cooked one inside of 2 minutes. I have to say, I have never had a steak replaced (fully plated) so fast. My wife had the double filet with a seafood topping that was fantastic. We also enjoyed the mushrooms and onions and ordered the truffle fries. While I ate 4-5 of my wife's fries, she didn't like them at all. Despite that, there was more than enough food for us both. Everything about the evening was excellent. I will definitely return whenever I can.

Birthday dinner , fantastic food could not fault it , service was also excellent , although small inside we were able to get a seat (for 2 ) fairly quickly , and it seemed to stay busy but very well managed , steaks were delicious , highly recommend for a special occasion or just another night out

Excellent steak house. Food delish, drinks reasonable priced. Two large strip steaks, salads, dinner rolls, and baked potatoes for $80.00. Well worth the price and I will be back.

We were extremely impressed with the politeness of the hostess with quite a number of people waiting for dinner. The wait was more than worth it! My wife's steak was cooked perfectly and the the sea bass was one of the best I have tasted. Both meals were came with a starch, salad and bread, no way were you leaving hungry. For sure a 5 star dinner.

First timers and we absolutely loved it!! We sat at the bar and had dinner surrounded by good people and great bartenders!! The wait can build up and highly recommend keeping out an eye for some openings at the bar. This is one of those places that you can not make a bad decision on choosing dinner. I had the rib eye and a skewer of scallops and shrimp. Everything done to perfection and a big round of applause for the chef and his team. Amazing job and don't forget desert. Served in a mason jar custard/ pudding was beyond incredible. We were told they were expanding and can clearly see the reason why!

Steak and wine is very good. Getting the au gratin potatoes as a side is a no brainer! I generally do not eat butter but what they serve with the bread is worth the calories. The fried goat cheese is my favorite app. Their desserts are served in mason jars, which I think is pretty cool. You can watch the chefs from the bar, which I think is very cool. Even the house salads are good, something I usually do not revel in. The only thing to keep my stars to four is the service. I find it very hit and miss. There is a blonde bartender, an alleged Tampa Bucs cheerleader, who is not the quickest behind the bar. Last night she let two people take our seats even though my friend I accompanied is a extremely generous tipper and regular. In the max 90 minutes we were there, at least four plates/glasses were broken by servers. Not that it has happened every time I have been there (and I have been there at least 12), but it is a small enough place to be jarring. However, Max is amazing and we always feel lucky when we get him as a bartender or server. Regardless of how much time in between visits, he always remembers our drink order. Like I said, great food and wine, hit or miss service.

WOW!! This place gives all the other steakhouses a run for their money. The steaks were excellent and the beers were big. Its high class steak house food with a Florida feel. I have since told several of my friends about it and they loved it.

third time back. oh boy!! Not good!! Steak was so salty could barely eat it. Fries were too salty! The base of the music playing was so loud where we were sitting I developed a headache and asked "twice" to please turn the base down. the vibration was terrible!! We were very disappointed for the price they charge. I ended going home with a upset stomach and thirsty as hell and a headache...

We came on a Saturday evening. We got the Surf & Turf and Filet Oscar. Both were outstanding! Service was good and fast. Parking was easy. No liquor cocktails available limited beer selection but great wine list with champagne choices as well. Only minor complaint was the food was a bit over seasoned with salt and pepper. Steak was perfectly cooked to our expectations.

We went there last night to celebrate my birthday. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. We've been looking for a good local steakhouse and we found it. My filet was cooked perfectly and was oh so tender. My husband had the ribeye "Pittsburgh" and he couldn't have been happier. Even the baked potato was cooked perfectly. So happy to have found 1200 Chophouse.

They advertise as being kid friendly but there was no bending on the menu... No kids options... How many kids want a chop salad? I asked for a side of broccoli instead of the salad which comes with the beef choices and the waiter said there were no options to change the salad option. Aside from that the steaks were over seasoned and highly salted... On a good piece of beef... Why ruin it? Although the reviews were positive, I would not return...

As a lover of fine steak restaurants, I was apprehensive about the small shop sitting a mere 60 second walk from the beach. This place erased all my worries. The food was incredible, the filet was expertly crafted and well worthy of the price. What sets this restaurant above the rest though, are the details. The salad included with the steak (also, a great value) was something you would definitely expect to pay extra for, it was outstanding. Even the pre-meal bread was exceptional and unique. Above all, was incredible service. Our server, Jason, straddled the perfect line of always having glasses full and food in front of you, without being all in your business. Want an incredible atmosphere and experience? 1200 Degree Chophouse is a sure bet!

Love the food here! It's all so delicious!!! The staff is fantastic and always provides great service. Price is also very reasonable for the amount of food and quality you're getting. I recommend calling ahead as the restauraunt is very small so it tends to fill up quickly.

Pretty decent steakhouse! Place overall is small, so you will have to wait. They keep it cozy and don't use pagers or anything like that, however, the front cocktail area really could be more practical if there were more seats available. The menu was small and eclectic- has some nice options for a not so traditional steak place. We ordered both apps that were on special- the scallops wrapped in bacon ($13) and the truffle fries and Gouda sauce ($8)- both on point. My husband got the Tomahawk steak which is 40oz ($59)! Such presentation with the bone in. I got the 7 ounce FM ($24). Overall, it was good... Not the best steak we've had. Bill was $113, which I was pleased with! Our service was great!

This place surpassed our expectations! The steak is far superior to any steak house I have been too. The staff flows together like a well trained team, the hostess Mallory, our waiter Max, and the busboy all keep things moving smoothly and leave you never wanting for anything. Honestly the whole experience was amazing and we will be back for more. Love this place!

My husband and I both had the filet with Gorgonzola sauce. The filet was prepared perfectly. The salad that came with the meal was excellent. Our server Sean was very friendly and very attentive. It is one of our favorite restaurants in St. Pete Beach.

Food was good. Service left a lot to be desired. Had a special request for water with no ice and the server was snarky about it. The staff seemed to congregate and not focus on diners.

Great food and great service. I recommend 1200 Chophouse I ordered the the Tomahawk Ribeye 21/2 pound on the entire rib. Good to share! Salad and bread were included and were outstanding. I talked to others who ordered the standard ribeye and lobster tail. They could not finish either and said both were very good.

It seems it always hit or miss with food on the beach areas. So we looked forward to eating at a good steak house. The one odd thing, they do not take reservations. First come first serve the lady on the phone told me. Ok, we ll try our luck the day after Christmas with a party of 6 at one of the smallest, (coziest????), places I've ever been. Got there around 8, 5 minute wait, not bad. Had a nice little table in a front corner away from the bar and kitchen area. You have to like loud places because being so small you hear a lot of conversations going on. Apps were very good, especially the goat cheese. The real star was the scallop app, bacon wrapped, large and tasty. House salad was a hit all around. Much better than your average steak house salad. Lots of items and a good creamy balsamic dressing. My ribeye was pretty good, not prime beef like Ruth's or Flemings. But priced much less and sides are included. Two of our steaks were a little over done but not enough to ask for new ones. We skipped desert. Now the real reason I rated highly. Our server, Max, was awesome. We have 1 person in our group with a severe shellfish allergy and he went above the call of duty to take care of her. That's always important to us. His energy, attitude and pro approach was a hit with the entire table. Great attitude and that alone guarantees a return visit from us. If you dine here, hopefully you ll get taken care of by Max too!

Well worth the wait! From amazing service to impeccable food, this chophouse was top notch! We were greeted by the bubbly and friendly hostess who told us it would be about a 45 minute wait. We mustered up the courage to wait and we're glad we did. Max, our waiter greeted us immediately with our appetizer we asked for just minutes earlier and warm rolls. The honey butter was divine. Max knew that we waited a while to eat and were hungry so he took our order promptly and within minutes we had our amazing salad! Not 10 minutes later our steaks were out and we were very happy tourists! I can't rave enough about the tender filet and the melt-in-your-mouth garlic mashed potatoes. We walked away from this experience as happy as a well-fed pregnant lady (which I happen to be) and could not stop talking about how you just don't see service like that now a days. 100% recommended!

Love, love, love their filet mignon with bernaise sauce. YUMMY! There is nothing I could improve upon and recommend this restaurant to all! The wine selection is fantastic and the menu is varied enough to satisfy the pickiest palate. Also try SNAPPERS for seafood. Same great owner. Same great experience.

small place along Gulf Blvd, nice setting nice atmosphere Got seated right away, by the very nice hostess Brittany. Ordered an appetizer of Filet Mignon and the Shrimp appetizer. Filet was excellent, great taste and good sauces with it. As for the shrimp, small, good taste, but not MY favorite. Little spicy, but thats me. Ordered the 16 oz ribeye with a side of mushroom and onions. Salad and potato came with the meal. Salad only had one chic of dressing , but it was very flavorful. Steak came, looked great and tasted the same way. Perfectly down to right temperature , as for the potato, baked, was the only disappointment. Ordered bacon and cheese on it along with butter and sour cream. Put butter on my potato and it did not melt. Hmmmm, only warm at best. Probably didn't need it anyways. Watch your bill, adds things up together and is a little confusing Overall, I would recommend

Really nice place. Tiny but cozy with a good bar atmosphere too. We sat right down on a Friday evening without making a reservation. I had the chop salad with shrimp which was quite good and almost for two. My brother loved his steak and potato au gratin. His wife thought the risotto should have been more creamy but my bro liked it. All in all, the joint was jumping and folks looked happy.

1200 Chophouse is fantastic. I am in the area for work, and this was by far the best meal I've had all week. I had the Ribeye cooked (perfectly) medium rare. Although the steak did not need anything on top, the Gorgonzola sauce gave it an extra flavor that was unique and delightful. Everything down to the salad, rolls, and side of honey butter were delicious and fresh, and this place clearly takes pride in every dish they serve. I highly recommend 1200 Chophouse to anyone who finds themselves in the Tampa Bay Area.

The food is excellent, nice staff. The wait was a bit long about 45 minutes. Expect a wait if you have a party bigger than 4, as it's a tiny restaurant. Parking isn't great, they could definitely use more space. Steaks were amazing, truffle gouda fries and bacon wrapped scallops were amazing too. Great little steakhouse on the beach. Nice reasonably priced wine and beer selection. It was great!

Wow!! Excellent dinner. Small dinning area creates a intimate feel. This also makes it loud! Well worth maneuvering the tinny parking lot. Sea bass was melt in your mouth and the steaks were cooked perfectly! We'll be back soon!

My husband and I ate here and the food was pretty good! Our waiter was very friendly, yet not too annoying. We tried shrimp for the first time, and yet we still weren't fans of the texture, the sauce it came with was delicious. The dinner rolls were excellent, as well as the salads that came with our entrees. The steaks were delicious, maybe a tad salty but good anyway! The restaurant itself was small, but we had no problem getting a seat right away!

Probably the best restaurant on St Pete beach. Great service, awesome food at reasonable prices. We had a great bottle of wine, the truffle fries, ribeye steak and the lobster and gnocchi appetizer as a meal. The meals included a salad, bread and a side (had awesome mashed potatoes). Awesome service from everyone at the restaurant. I would recommend this place to anyone and will be back next time we're at the beach.

Would have been 5 stars EXCEPT our steaks weren't exactly cooked correct temperature, one of 4 sent back. The bruschetta (which I order everywhere) and the salads that come with the entree, along with the mashed potatoes... All were amazing. The size and appearance on the outside was deceiving when we asked everyone where to get a good steak we were iffy about it once we saw it. Glad we did... I would not compare it to Ruth Chris at all but it was a really good meal and the server was really spunky and sweet.

  • Geoff C.

Maybe it's not 5 stars closer to 4.5 but it's really good but steak is heavily seasoned which I love but I could see others thinking is overkill. Ask for less seasoning if you don't want that heavy seasoning. Comes with one of the best salads I've ever had for real has apples walnuts and a balsamic vinegar dressing didn't think I would like it but can't get enough. There are a couple seafood dishes but this is a chophouse for a reason get a steak if you want seafood try the sister restaurant snappers just down gulf on st pete beach

  • Josh L.

Well, this goes as some of the worst food I have ever had. How do you make me wait 45 minutes for a steak and have it go from medium to past well? They did take it off the bill so the waiter will be tipped well, but I will not be back. And another note, use less pepper and salt, or buy better meat so you don't have to worry about it.

Great experience at 1200 chophouse. We walked in about 9:30, only people around since the whole shuts down at 9! They are open until 10, and they took GREAT care of us! We got a filet and the t-bone special, both cooked perfectly to temp. Loved the unique rolls and the great salad with green apples, dried cranberries, and blue cheese. Thanks for a great dinner!

We ate here for our anniversary dinner on 9/4/13. We ordered a bottle of wine, then the waiter brought us the house salad and bread. The house salads are amazing and could be a good lunch. I had one of the specials that evening" Bourbon Grouper" with shrimp and red potatoes/adouille sausage. Excellent. My hubby had the Steak Au Pouvre and it was amazing. It came with au gratin potatoes that were the best thing we both have ever eaten. They had bacon sprinkled on top of them and well, bacon makes everything better. (not that they needed anything to make them better) It's a very small place, but they seem to make it work. It was a wonderful dinner we'll remember and recommend to everyone who visits that area. One pointer..try to get there by 6pm or after 7pm...seems like they are really crowded between those times.

This is a hidden gem! The steaks are amazing, but order off the specials!!! Chef Mike is clearly an artist. Plates are gigantic and prices are super reasonable (filet with shrimp and crab topping $28!) very clear everyone here loves their job!

I went there Sept 17th. I loved it. Nice, small restaurant but it had a good atmosphere and the food was exceptional. I had the filet and lobster. It was cooked perfectly. I loved the dinner salad. It had small bites of apples, cranberries, feta with a delicious honey balsamic dressing. The chef came and spoke to us. I really enjoyed this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone..especially date night.

Dinner was AMAZING! They don't take reservations and the place is small but we had no trouble getting a table. We had the tomahawk steak and as promised, it was huge. We could have easily shared it at the table. As it was, two of us ate our fill and packed up the rest for later. The bread was awesome, the black salt really made a huge difference in everything. We also had the truffle fries as an appetizer... YUM! Honestly my favorite was the au gratin potatoes. Sooo creamy and delicious. The couple we went with opted for scallops (6 huge bacon wrapped ones) and sea bass. They were both delighted. Service was quick, helpful, and very friendly. Great place and would definitely go back!

Absolutely fantastic steakhouse. Food and service were top notch. It's a small place so depending on when you go it could be a little bit of a wait but it's worth it. The hostess was great helping us while we waited. Our server, Virgil, was great and attentive. All the food was top notch. I highly recommend if you're in the area to stop in for dinner.

As a New Yorker just down for the weekend I was looking for a spot to have a nice valentines dinner. I have to say this place blew my expectations out of the water. Great quality steaks and sides but the frosting on the cake was the special of the day. The special was truffle fries with Gouda fondue. Absolutely amazing. Service was great as well. I will be back!!

I was on vacation on St. Pete Beach and wanted a steak. I was referred to this restaurant by a gate operator at my hotel. When I arrived, the restaurant had a short wait. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was terrific. Everyone already seated appeared to be having a great time and enjoying their dinner. After being seated, I was served by a terrific waiter. The dinner salad and rolls before my steak arrived awoke my tastebuds. The rib eye arrived cooked to perfection and tasted great; absolutely no steak sauce needed. Just be aware the steaks are heavily seasoned. I strongly recommend that you make this one of your stops while in the area. It will be a regular stop of mine each and everytime that I'm in the area.

First time going to this place. It's new to me becuase I have not been down here in a year. We walked in and we were greeted by a very nice hostesses who was very helpful. She said that there would be a 15-20 minute wait but it turned out to be a 45 minute wait. Now this was not too bad but a waiter in the restaurant decided to sit down with a party of 3. He went on to sit, talk, and drink wine with these people for 15 minutes. This prolonged our wait because they were done with their entrees! And who was taking care of his other tables? The hostess. Unbelievable. I can't believe the owner(s) condones there wait staff sitting down and drinking with customers while on their shift! Not to mention, this was a very busy night and people were leaving because the wait was too long! Anyway another table left and we were seated. After that everything else was great. The waiter was friendly and helpful. The bread, salad, and appetizer were all amazing. The bread was fresh and delicious, the shrimp appetizer had this amazing sauce to dunk your bread in. The salad was refreshing with a sweet vinegar dressing. Next, our meals were amazing. Two prime ribs in my party cooked exactly how we wanted them. The steaks were perfect. The mashed potatoes were also great tasting and complimented the steak well. The chicken saltibucco also looked good. Overall the food and our waiter is what brings this all the way up to 5 stars.

We decided to try out St. Pete Beach's newest Steak house. Pulled into the parking lot and there are only a few spots, 10 maybe, and they are tight. Walked into a SMALL restaurant... bar and dining area are pretty much on top of each other however nothing feels "cramped". Our waiter went over the wine list, it was extensive and he was excited to share his knowledge and favorites. Dinner specials were explained in detail and my husband and I were both left drooling in anticipation. I ordered the duck, prepared in a wine blackberry sauce with steak fries drizzled with truffle oil, yum! My husband got the ribeye and devoured it. Bread and honeybutter to start and the BEST house salads ( gorgonzola, candied pecans & crans over greens) accompany each meal. We had no room for dessert but took a sea salt caramel panna cotta ( each made in thier own tiny mason jar) to go! AMAZING!! Prices were average for a steak house. Our bill was $80 for two meals, wine & dessert.

We had an amazing dinner at Chophouse. The wine selection was awesome, my wife and I shared the ribeye with a lobster tail. For the appetizer we had bacon wrapped scallops. The lobster tail was cooked perfectly as well. The menu recommends gorgonzola cheese sauce for the steaks but the steaks were cooked perfectly and did not need anything. We are very impressed with this restaurant and will make it a must go to every time we are in the area. Our waiter Chris was outstanding, he gave us excellent recommendations on the wine, the appetizers and the food! Ask for his area, he will not disappoint.

We loved it. They are small and we were quoted a wait of 20 minutes but there were seats at the bar and we had a table before we were finished our drink. We could have eaten at the bar. They do not take reservations nor would they allow our hotel concierge to call ahead so we took a chance walking from our hotel. Loved the rolls with black sea salt, fried goat cheese app with arugula, red onion, and delicious sauce was to die for. Husband had a bacon-wrapped scallop app that he liked. Salads with meals were great. I had steak au poivre which I loved and husband had a filet which was great also. We ordered sides of risotto which was the only thing I didn't really care for (it's the one thing I make often myself and I am pretty picky about it) and onion straws which were pretty standard. Service was great. It was better than any of the restaurants in our resort-style hotel across the street, and I would say one of the few "foodie"-type places in the area. Highly recommend.

We heard about the great Chop House salads and had to try them. Keep in mind that they are not chopped salad. They are the restaurant's house salad which happens to be a lot like a cobb salad including cranberries, hard boiled eggs, blue cheese, etc. I got chicken in mine which brought the price to $20 for a salad, but it was huge and delicious. It was very filling as an entrée. The restaurant is tiny and they don't seem to take reservations, so plan around the busy times. We got take out, so it wasn't a problem. The parking lot is tiny too. Backing out of a spot was nearly impossible. I won't park past the first few spots again.

I went here NYE and it was a set menu so I can't say how things are on a typical night but here's what I thought. GREAT little place. Nicely decorated, small, cozy. A great date place for a good steak. Beer and wine only. We started with the apps. I had the fried goat cheese. It was tiny but very light and tasty. Others I was with got the beef satay skewers, which were fillet. Delicious. No fat, buttery meat, nice portion. Very tender. The salad was pretty large. Maybe a bit too large but really good. A wide assortment of lettuces, candied walnuts, craisons, other veggies with a balsamic dressing. Then came the steaks. Whoa baby. 3 of us go the 20 oz. bone in ribeye. I'm sure it was larger than that. A really good piece of meat cooked perfectly. I had a panko bleu cheese topping that wasn't overwhelming or too rich. All of ours were cooked great. My son got a surf and turf. He said the lobster was fantastic (he's 15...I take no responsibility for his ratings...be warned that in his book all lobster is awesome). The dessert was a bit disappointing. They were tasty but it was topped with cool whip. I'm sure it's because they had everything premade as much as possible to flip tables quickly on NYE but cool whip makes everything lame. Our waiter was OUTSTANDING. Can't remember his name. Not all over us, but always ready and always checking in. He was a true pro and at a place like this, that's what you want. The steaks were of very good quality. I don't know if they were prime or dry aged but they were really good. Other things on the plate were garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, which were both good. I don't think the cost was unreasonable for 4 people eating what we ate. I'd like to try this again on a non NYE night. Really good dining experience with very good food. Get rid of the cool whip and get a liquor license and this would be 5 stars from me. I'm a fan.

What a great little spot on the beach. We arrived about 6:15 p.m. on a Friday evening, a little earlier than we normally eat but it was worth it as we had no wait. This restaurant does not take reservations and like I said has very few tables. The parking lot is small as well. We are glad we got in when we did - as there were more than a dozen people waiting for tables in no time. We ordered a ribeye and the small filet. Both were cooked to the correct temperature and very tasty but a little overboard on the seasonings. It was nice to have a salad and a side come with the steaks as now a days, most steakhouses make everything extra. Prices were great for everything we had. Wine selection was really good as well. Only suggestion would be not to have the "bus boy" hanging out by the bar - he did not seem to help the waitresses at all especially when they had their hands full while serving or cleaning up the tables, the hostess was very pleasant and as was our waitress. We will definitely return in the future!

Ribeye is the best I have ever eaten!! Can't say enough about it. We started with an order of mussels which were very good, but the ribeye just blew me away. It came cooked just perfect. I ordered mine medium rare and that is how it was served. It came with a great salad as well. Would return when in the area! It is a small restaurant, but that adds to its charm.

I cannot understand why this place has four and a half stars. We started with the bruschetta, which was delicious, and the best part of the whole meal. We also appreciated the salad that came with our entrees, but that was it. I ordered the filet oscar: the meat was overdone and tasted like it came off a VERY dirty grill or pan. I can only hope the "seasoning" on the steak was accidental because it was disgusting. I couldn't eat it. The crab meat topping the steak tasted overly fishy, and was tainted with chunks of bell pepper, which was NOT indicated on the menu. The béarnaise sauce wasn't very good either. I've had filet oscar style many times in the past and am accustomed to fresh, lump crab meat with a creamy flavorful béarnaise or hollandaise sauce, and I didn't get either. I saw this place compared to Ruth's Chris, which I though was too good to be true because it's much cheaper than Ruth's. Turns out, it was too good to be true. I won't be returning.

Small classy restaurant with "Flavor"....wonderful location with both indoor & outdoor dining Seating was a bit tight inside...the menu and specials were fitting for just about everyone. Nice to have steakhouse on the beach. Parking is tight. Small and cozy and gets crowded/loud on weekends and high season. Friends and I ate at the bar. Tight squeeze but HEY that's how to make new acquaintances right? Our bartender did a great job keeping everyone's glasses full and food orders straight. Cajun BBQ shrimp app - not the TRUE New Orleans BBQ shrimp style but tasty and shrimp were cooked perfectly. House salad tasty with balsamic dressing which was glopped on the dish. Next time will order dressing on the side. To bad they don't LIGHTLY toss dressing with greens prior to serving. 7 oz Filet grilled perfect medium rare. Main complaint.... Steaks over seasoned. I like to taste the beef not the salt. Sides of spinach, onions/mushrooms tasty and served hot. Dinner rolls were the highlight for me! Fresh, hot and soft on the inside. Honey butter nice YUMMY, totally worth falling off the "no carb wagon"!!! Pricey, but portions are reasonable.. Will give them another try on a slower night, can't wait for cooler weather for dinner on the patio

The pepercorn steak was horrendous don't get it. It taste like a bitter pepper plate. My girlfriend had the ribeye plain. It was the beast steak ever. Service was poor and it was very loud wait was not to bad. The cheesecake deserts are also not cheesecake there weird fillings in a jar also not what I was expecting. But the dinner rolls and salad were amazing

Excellent food and service. Had the rib eye steak. Very good portion. My wife had the sea bass. Dining area is small but of you arrive early you can get a table. No reservations. Awesome home made desserts.
